Healthy cultural atmosphere of academic institutions are required for psychological upliftment and overall development of students. Such encouraging atmosphere allows expression of creative skills rests in each individual student. Proper nourishment of young minds are essential for building a cultured mature and confident, citizen of the country.

The basic purpose of performing and coordinating all the cultural activities in the college campus is:-

Ø  To maintain healthy cultural atmosphere of the college campus

Ø  To conduct different cultural activities and competitions (like celebration of different important dates, Fresher Welcome Ceremony, etc. ) throughout the calendar year and to prepare the students to participate in different cultural activities at different Colleges, Universities and other places of the state and Country

Ø  Conduction of different cultural programme in the college


A Calendar of the cultural activities has been prepared in the following way –

a.       Celebration of the Independence Day (15th August)

b.      Celebration of Teachers’ Day (5th September)

c.       Celebration of Gandhi’s Birth Day (2nd October)

d.      Celebration of Netaji’s Birth Day (23rd January)

e.       Celebration of Republic Day (26th January)

f.       Celebration of “Swaraswati Puja”

g.      Celebration of “Bhasha Dibas (21st February)”

h.      Celebration of “Rabindra Jayanti”

i.        Conduction of the Annual Athletic Meet

j.        Conduction of College Fresher Welcome

k.      Farewell Ceremony for the college staff


Teachers from different departments who show efficiencies in cultural activities regularly take part in conduction and overall supervision of various cultural programmes. Students of each of the department celebrate Teachers’ Day, Fresher’s Welcome and Farewell Ceremony of outgoing students every year. All of the departments are decorated up to its full. Students give their full efficiency to beautify their own departments and uplifting their performance to the highest limit. The celebrations become a grand success every year. Teachers of every department take care of the programmes and pay full attention from the starting to the end of the programme. The college authority also gives full support so that it would be a grand success.

Celebration of different memorable dates like Independence Day, Rabindra Jayanti, Bhasa Dibas etc. are a common practice of Jhargram Raj college. Interested students of different departments gather under the guidance of Cultural Subcommittee to pay homage to the martyrs of India’s Independence, or to memorize Rabindratath Tagore, Netaji Subhas Chandra bose etc. Our Mother Tongue is also our mother. Students also dedicate themselves to their Mother tongue on Bhasa Dibash. The Cultural Sub Committee supervises the entire programme from starting to the end for smooth conduction of each one.

The Members of Students’ Union with other interested students in acquaintance with The College Authority and the Cultural Subcommittee celebrates Annual College Fresher’s Welcome, College Teachers’ Day Celebration and Saraswati Puja. Every year the college remains filled with vibrating, bright and smiling faces of young boys and girls on these days.

The students of Jhargram Raj College show efficiency in various cultural activities.

All the teaching and non-teaching staff members of the college are generally invited and requested to be present in different Cultural Programmes.
